Sometime in 2018 parts of my body decided to stop working in synch. It was very painful and continues to be so and that pain and the expression of it have made their way into my work as they shaped both my perception of the space around me and the physical process by which I record it. Pain and our reaction to it shapes everything including the soul and, if you believe as I do that photography is nothing but the crude recording of the self – regardless of subject matter – then there is no choice but to see every image taken while in pain as a concrete manifestation of that pain.
